What Is the AZGPS Network?
The AZGPS GNSS Network is a professional Real-Time Network (RTN) built on Trimble Pivot Platform infrastructure — the same enterprise-grade software used by state and national CORS networks worldwide. Our network of permanently installed reference stations continuously collects raw GNSS observations and feeds them into the Pivot processing engine, which models atmospheric conditions and orbital errors in real time to generate highly accurate correction data across the entire coverage area.
At the core of the network is Trimble’s VRS3Net (Virtual Reference Station) engine. When your rover connects via NTRIP, the network server receives your approximate position and generates a synthetic reference station — a Virtual Reference Station — within meters of your location. This VRS delivers customized corrections that account for the specific ionospheric, tropospheric, and orbital errors at your exact position, eliminating the distance-dependent errors that degrade single-base RTK accuracy over long baselines.
AZGPS built Arizona’s first Network RTK solution in 2004 using Trimble’s VRS technology — before most surveyors in the state had ever used RTK without a base station. Today the network supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS constellations, delivers RTCM 3.x and CMR+ corrections, and provides managed uptime with continuous integrity monitoring. No base station setup. No radio links. No baseline limitations. Just fast, reliable centimeter-level positioning delivered directly to your rover via cellular NTRIP.
