Construction Staking in Arizona
Translating engineer’s plans to physical reference points in the field — so Arizona contractors can build with confidence and precision.
TRIMBLE RTK GNSS · LICENSED AZBTR FIRM #26605 · TRAVIS THOMPSON, RLS #48482 · (602) 834-5082
AZGPS construction staking services translate your engineer’s design plans into physical reference points on the ground using Trimble RTK GNSS technology. We stake foundations, utilities, roads, site improvements, and building pads for residential and commercial contractors, developers, and municipalities throughout Central and Southern Arizona.
What is Construction Staking?
Construction staking (also called layout surveying or construction layout) places physical stakes, hubs, and lath on the ground at the horizontal and vertical positions specified by your design plans. Without accurate staking, crews build in the wrong location — resulting in costly corrections, permit failures, or failed inspections. A licensed RLS certifies that the staking matches the approved engineering drawings.
Best For
Residential construction — foundation corners, setback verification, grading stakes. Commercial builds — building pads, parking lots, curb and gutter, utility trenches. Road construction — centerline, subgrade, and finish grade stakes for new roads and improvements. Utility installation — pipe inverts, manhole locations, and horizontal alignment for water, sewer, and drainage. Foundations — slab, stem wall, and spread footing layout. Site improvements — retaining walls, drainage structures, and graded slopes.
Our Construction Staking Process
1. Plan review — We review your approved engineering drawings and coordinate files before mobilizing. 2. Control establishment — We set project control benchmarks referenced to the design datum. 3. Staking — Using Trimble RTK GNSS, we stake each feature at the position and elevation called out in the plans. 4. Cut sheets — We provide cut/fill sheets documenting the relationship between staked positions and finished grade. 5. Re-staking — We return as needed for grade checks, re-staking after disturbance, and final inspection verification.
Deliverables
✔ Field stakes with guard stakes and flagging ✔ Cut/fill sheets for grade control ✔ Stake-out report with coordinates and elevations ✔ Surveyor’s certification when required ✔ As-staked coordinate file (CSV/DWG)
